ClassesClasses taught by Kathryn Higgins are stimulating, fun, dynamic, and educational. The knowledge they offer in the use of herbs is self-empowering and practical for everyday use. The classes have a variety of formats. They include walks in the field, (often so necessary for accurate plant identification), slide shows, workshops, and lectures. You may select the method of presentation and content that best suits your needs or the needs of your store, business, or organization.
Awakening Ourselves Through Our Bond With NatureThis seminar focuses on our deep, yet often hidden yearning for a closer attachment to the natural world, and the personal wisdom we gain from observing earth's bounty and understanding why plants are so important in our daily lives. Taught in three parts -- field identification, herbal medicine making, and herbal bodycare -- it provides a peaceful retreat from daily stresses and a greater appreciation for nature that extends into the creation and use of herbal remedies. Participants receive all products made in class.
Plant IdentificationThis class is taught in the field or with slides in a classroom. It includes edible and medicinal plants growing in fields and forests, useful garden "weeds", and cultivated herbs. Sustainable wildcrafting techniques are discussed, as well as the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of using regional herbs to make food and medicine. Included in the class price is a copy of Kathryn's Pocket Guide to Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants, containing over 70 color photos.
Cooking with Wild PlantsParticipants gather wild edible plants using sustainable wildcrafting, and prepare a deliciously nutritious meal.
Planting an Herb GardenThis class provides information on how to create specific herb gardens -- culinary herbs, medicinal herbs, fragrant herbs to use in body care, and herbs to grow with children. Information on planting, harvesting and drying techniques, as well as herb uses, is included.
