(March, 2006) — Birthed in 2005 to celebrate 15 years of nurturing expecting and breastfeeding mothers and babies, the Nurturing Life Foundation is Motherlove Herbal Company's gift back to mothers everywhere. In 2005, the Nurturing Life Foundation provided scholarships to the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (BPC) Program, a La Leche League International (LLLI) program, Habitat for Humanity Women Build, the American Red Cross, the Mountain Park Environmental Center and the Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA.

The BPC program assists low income mothers nationwide in developing support systems to provide ongoing breastfeeding training and information. The program is unique in that low income women are trained as peer counselors who then can become paid trainers to continue teaching and empowering other women in their communities. Many of the women go on to earn medical degrees and training. Today six states, the District of Columbia and 24 countries have successful LLLI BPC programs in place.
