SAN FRANCISCO May 30, 2006 — BIRTH is a one-hour public radio and audio documentary about the practices and perceptions of birth in America. Distributed nationwide by Public Radio International for Women's History Month, March 2007.

With a multiplicity of voices woven with sound we examine the process of birth from an emotional, physical and philosophical perspective. As we move back and forth through time and from person to person, we discover how stories from our lives, history, anthropology, biology, media, and the medical institution enter into the culmination of the actual birthing process.

Thin Air Media will go on the road with excerpts from BIRTH and play it for gatherings of mothers, fathers and young people in six cities nationwide on THE BIRTH TOUR. On THE BIRTH TOUR mothers, fathers, young people and kids will be invited to share their stories and be witnessed in the telling of their stories. The intention of holding these events is to stimulate a national conversation about perceptions and practices of birth in America.
