10 Spring Activities to Do With Kids

10 Spring Activities to Do With Kids

Written by Mia.

Spring is more than just reconnecting with nature. It’s also a chance to introduce kids to the beauties of this world and encourage them to be more mindful about it. Whether you’re indoors or outdoors, you and your family can embrace what the season has to offer through many activities.

1. PLANT SPRING FLOWERS

Welcome the spring sun with new plants. It’s the perfect time since your flowers will finally be free of the winter weather. Daffodils are great if you want a low-maintenance option to care for this season. If you’re looking for color and variety, tulips are the way to go. They could be purple, pink, white, and many other shades.

2. PLAN A PICNIC

Since you’re already out in the yard area, why not have a nice picnic and enjoy the wind outside? You can take out a blanket, lay out snacks on a plate, and chat about anything under the sun. With spring break coming to a close, they should take every day with as much ease as possible.

3. FLY A KITE AT THE PARK

Kite flying simply has to be on the bucket list of things to do when spring drops. What’s more fun than sending a mini aircraft into the sky? An open field or park is ideal for no trees or other structures to get your kite stuck in.

4. HEAD TO THE PLAYGROUND

Spring is the perfect time to return to outdoor playtime. Children nowadays spend anywhere from five to seven hours on their screens each day. Bring them to the playground and encourage them to have a blast with other kids in the community. You can chill out on the bench and give them ample space to talk and interact.

5. MAKE WISHES ON DANDELIONS

Have a little friendly competition with your children about who can get the most dandelions. Once you have collected enough, encourage them to make as many wishes as they want. Remember to take notes for their future presents!

6. GO ON A NATURE HIKE

Get the full view of spring and bring your kids on a hike. It’s best to pick a beginner-friendly route in a more local place. That way, you can focus more on showing different parts of nature rather than navigating through unknown terrain.

As you walk, take in the blooming flowers and the cherry blossoms. You can even make the hike a scavenger hunt for different sticks, leaves, flowers, and rocks.

7. CREATE A FAIRY LIGHT FORT

Add a little magic to your backyard or living room by setting up fairy lights and a fort. You can even have a family movie night and a sleepover. Remember to bring as many pillows and blankets as possible to make the space cozy.

8. MAKE DELICIOUS SMOOTHIES

Experiment in the kitchen and make refreshing beverages with your kids. If they’re craving a creamy beverage, make a simple watermelon smoothie with a little yogurt. Strawberry lime is also a wonderful combination of flavors if they’re craving a light and tart drink.

9. HAVE AN AT-HOME POOL DAY

Grab an inflatable pool and organize a little swimming date in the yard. It’s a fantastic sport for people of all ages and fitness levels. You can teach your kids the basics, and they can learn at their own pace in the comfort of their own space. Splurge on water guns, floaties, and other pool toys, too.

10. MAKE A MUD KITCHEN

Set up an outdoor kitchen where your little ones can "cook" with nature. A good way to do this is to find kitchen items at a thrift store.

You can also gather things you no longer use that can handle the weather. Kids will love mixing, stirring, and playing with dirt, water, pine cones, and anything else they come across. Spring isn't fun without a little mess!

ENJOY SPRING WITH THE FAMILY

Delight in the spring sunshine and schedule fun activities to do with the family. Break out your best sundress and head out to the great outdoors. You can also involve your little ones in the planning to get them excited.
