Mullein
Verbascum thapsus
Why We Love It:
Mullein has long been seen as a symbol of protection. Historically, the leaves have been used for lung support and respiratory care and can be taken as a tea or by directly inhaling the smoke. The small yellow flowers have also been known to treat ear infections.
What It Looks Like:
Mullein is a biennial plant that in its first year will be a fuzzy, low-growing rosette of leaves and in the second year it grows a five to seven-foot-tall central stalk dotted with little yellow flowers. It is a resilient herb that grows in a variety of conditions and easily resows itself.
